We are measuring experts!

In class this week, we have been learning about measurement and why we measure things. They have learned the concept of longer and shorter and have gotten a lot of practice showing me they understand this new concept. The classes have had so much fun with the hands-on experience of getting to measure objects in the room with unifix cubes! In kindergarten, we are giving them the opportunity to learn the concept of measurement and how to practice measuring the length or height of objects. They will be learning how to use a ruler when they measure in older grades but this a good start to the concept to build upon later. Today they got to work with partners and work together to fill out an activity where I asked them to measure various things in the classroom and record how many cubes long they were. It was so fun seeing them all working together as partners and learning from one another! I was so proud of their team work!

We had a fun filled day today and I am beyond blown away with all they are learning! It is truly AMAZING! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy November!

With it being a "new" month, we got to make our November calendars today and I also sent home our new sight words for the month a few days ago. They all worked so hard on their November calendars and they turned out so cute! They couldn't wait to bring them home to share with all of you! These calendars are A LOT of work but they are learning SO much while they create them such as: problem solving, following directions, practicing writing their numbers from 1-30 in order the correct way, how to turn shapes into other shapes, patterns, working on strengthening their fine motor skills and so much more! We had so much fun making the calendars today!

In Jolly Phonics today, we learned the letter "qu" digraph sound like in the words: quack,  quilt, queen, quit. When talking about things they could think of that began with "qu" or had the digraph in it, they were able to think of quite a few words so I know tonight's homework will be really easy for them! I am amazed with how quickly they are learning the new Jolly Phonics sounds and applying what we learned into thinking of words that begin with the sound and writing the words on their own in their packets using "brave spelling!" It's truly AMAZING! They have all really taken off as readers and writers! When doing the Jolly Phonics lesson, they are always super excited to get to the end of the lesson where we get to read words as a class that contain the newly learned sound. I am so proud of all my kinder friends!

In the morning class today, we also got to celebrate Ameila's 6th birthday with her! Happy Birthday, Ameila!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It was such a fun Halloween today in K-1 and K-3! Who would've thought we would have snow on Hallowen but it looked so pretty outside as the snow flakes fell from the sky onto the ground. In both classes today, we had a parade and Halloween party. When the day began in both classes, it was so much fun today greeting all my kindergarten friends and seeing them all dressed in their adorable Halloween costumes! They all had so much fun parading around the school and participating in some Halloween fun at our classroom parties! A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful Room Reps that organized and planned such fabulous parties! Thank you! It will be a day my kindergarten friends will always remember! Happy Halloween, everyone and be safe tonight trick-or-treating!
