During SAT time today, I got to meet with a guided reading group. I can't believe how much they have all grown as readers and how well they are sounding out words to write them on their own! It is truly amazing! Both classes love when they get to meet with me at the back table for reading groups because sometimes they get to write on the table with dry erase markers. They think it's so funny! I told them they can only write on the table at school with me and that it is something special they get to do there at kindergarten. They LOVE it! Here are some cute pictures I took of my friends doing some word work in our group today:
With today being President's Day and tomorrow being George Washington's birthday, we learned all about George Washington in class and made a project of him today. Both classes did such a wonderful job during the group lesson today and I was so impreessed with all the fun facts they learned about our first President. They also did a fabulous job following my step-by-step directions in making the George Washington project today! This was a difficult one to make that had a lot of complicated cuts to make specific pieces of the project. I was so proud of them! Here are some pictures of both classes with their projects:

With it being Abraham Lincoln's birthday on February 12th and President's Day on the 21st, we learned all about Abraham Lincoln today and why he was such an important president. We watched a Brainpop Jr. movie about him and we also listened to an Abraham Lincoln read-aloud about him too. Through the movie and the book, we learned a lot of wonderful facts that really stuck with my kindegarten friends. To showcase what my classes learned today, we did an Abraham Lincoln directed draw activity and I asked the class to write one or two facts that they learned about him today. I was so impressed with how well they followed my step-by-step directions in drawing Abraham Lincoln on their own and how great they did writing their own sentences to tell me what they learned. I was blown away today! Way go go, K-1 and K-3! Here are some of the projects the classes made today:

We had such a fun 100th Day of Kindergarten today! The room was full of smiles, giggles and lots of fun energy! They kept telling me it was the best day ever! It melted my heart! We did a lot of 100 day activities to celebrate our 100th day. We read the story 100 Day Worries, made a necklace with 100 beads by making groups of 10 by color until the necklace was complete, drawing what we'd look like if we were 100, sorted our 100 day baggies in groups of 10 counting by 10's to 100,and doing an activity about 100 things. We also did a Jack Hartman video where we exercised counting to 100 counting by 1's. It was such a fun day! Here are some pictures of both classes capturing all the fun we had today:
