Painted Pumpkins...so CUTE!

Yesterday, I gave my kinders white construction paper and I asked them to draw a pumpkin shape with a pencil that was as big as the paper. We talked about how pumpkins can be all different shapes and sizes. After they were done drawing their pumpkins, I gave them all a thick paint brush and some orange paint. They got to paint their pumpkin shape and I let them dry overnight. In class today, I did a TLC activity where we used their painted pumpkin and I taught them how to make it into a jack-o-lantern. I taught them how to make grass and they used green construction paper to make a stem too. They did such a great job following my step-by-step directions and turning their own pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns with the left over black and white paper they had left. I LOVED seeing all their finished projects! They turned out amazing! I hung them from the ceiling in our classroom to enjoy for the remainder of the month. Here are some of my kindergarten friends with their finished pumpkins:

In math today, we finished another chapter learning about numbers 0-10 and ordinal numbers. Both classes did a great job on the review pages and they had fun showing me what they now know. We began the next chapter where we started learning about measurement. The lesson today focused on the concepts of longer than and shorter than.

It was another wonderful day in K-1 and K-3! Have a great night, everyone!
