With it being a "new" month, we got to make our November calendars today and I also sent home our new sight words for the month a few days ago. They all worked so hard on their November calendars and they turned out so cute! They couldn't wait to bring them home to share with all of you! These calendars are A LOT of work but they are learning SO much while they create them such as: problem solving, following directions, practicing writing their numbers from 1-30 in order the correct way, how to turn shapes into other shapes, patterns, working on strengthening their fine motor skills and so much more! We had so much fun making the calendars today!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
It was such a fun Halloween today in K-1 and K-3! Who would've thought we would have snow on Hallowen but it looked so pretty outside as the snow flakes fell from the sky onto the ground. In both classes today, we had a parade and Halloween party. When the day began in both classes, it was so much fun today greeting all my kindergarten friends and seeing them all dressed in their adorable Halloween costumes! They all had so much fun parading around the school and participating in some Halloween fun at our classroom parties! A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful Room Reps that organized and planned such fabulous parties! Thank you! It will be a day my kindergarten friends will always remember! Happy Halloween, everyone and be safe tonight trick-or-treating!

Painted Pumpkins...so CUTE!
Yesterday, I gave my kinders white construction paper and I asked them to draw a pumpkin shape with a pencil that was as big as the paper. We talked about how pumpkins can be all different shapes and sizes. After they were done drawing their pumpkins, I gave them all a thick paint brush and some orange paint. They got to paint their pumpkin shape and I let them dry overnight. In class today, I did a TLC activity where we used their painted pumpkin and I taught them how to make it into a jack-o-lantern. I taught them how to make grass and they used green construction paper to make a stem too. They did such a great job following my step-by-step directions and turning their own pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns with the left over black and white paper they had left. I LOVED seeing all their finished projects! They turned out amazing! I hung them from the ceiling in our classroom to enjoy for the remainder of the month. Here are some of my kindergarten friends with their finished pumpkins:
In math today, we finished another chapter learning about numbers 0-10 and ordinal numbers. Both classes did a great job on the review pages and they had fun showing me what they now know. We began the next chapter where we started learning about measurement. The lesson today focused on the concepts of longer than and shorter than.
It was another wonderful day in K-1 and K-3! Have a great night, everyone!
