What a fun Dr. Seuss Week!

 Today was a very busy day in K-1 and K-3! We had an assembly where we had a youth adult theater come and perform "Beauty and The Beast." Both classes were excellent listeners and I was amazed how well they all sat and listened to the whole performance! They all really enjoyed it!

We had gym and music too which didn't leave much room for our last Dr. Seuss activity. I read my kinders The Cat In The Hat Comes Back!  by Dr. Seuss. They loved this story and then we did a Cat In The Hat directed draw. I taught them how to draw it following my step-by-step directions. They turned out AMAZING! WOW!!! We have such amazing artists in kindergarten! They were so excited when they finished drawing and coloring their Cat In The Hats! Here are some pictures of my kinder friends with their drawings:

Silly Socks Day

 We had so much fun reading Fox In Socks today by Dr. Seuss. It had so many rhyming words that it sure was a tongue twister to read out loud. As I read it to the classes, I started giggling because it was so hard to read the words as they were written in the story. To go along with the book, all my kinder friends came to school today dressed in their favorite pair of silly socks and they got to write their own page for our class book where they drew the socks they wore and why they were silly. We had so much fun looking through the class book and seeing all the pages our classmates created. I was so proud of the drawings and the fantastic writing they all did! I was also very proud of how nice and neat their handwriting was as well. Wow!!!! What a fun day!

We also did a color by number activity where my kinders were asked to color specific numbers on a number chart a specific color. When they were done coloring all the numbers in the color key, a hidden picture was revealed. It was so cute to see the excitement when they were done coloring the numbers and they were able to see that it was a picture of the Cat In The Hat. So fun!
