With today being St. Patrick's Day, I did a directed draw leprechaun with both classes and they did a FABULOUS job! I couldn't believe how wonderful they all turned out! Both classes did a great job following my step-by-step directions and I can't believe how artistic they ALL are! Way to go, K-1 and K-3! HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY everyone!

In math this week, we have been learning all about flat shapes (2D) and solid shapes (3D). I am amazed with how quickly they are learning the names of the shapes and how well they are able to describe them to me. I also love hearing how they can explain the differences among them too. To go along with all they are learning about shapes, we did a mini-book today where they were given a shape and they had to draw something in the real world that resembled that shape. I also asked them to write the name of the object with their "brave spelling" that they drew on the page. They came up with some very creative things and I was so proud of their drawings and how well they spelled the words they wanted to write! It is truly AMAZING! Wow! Way to go, K-1 and K-3!

With today being March 1st, we made our March calendars in class today. They LOVED making this calendar and I was amazed with how wonderful they all turned out. They all did such a great job filling in the missing numbers from 1-31 and following my step-by-step directions in making the calendar! They were all so proud of their hard work on them and they couldn't wait to bring them home to share with all of you! Here are some pictures I took of all my kindergarten friends with their amazing March calendars:
In the morning class, we had a fun visit where two Hersey basketball players came to our class to read a few stories to them. I have never seen the class so quiet as they sat in awe listening to the boys read two cute stories. It was so much fun having them both in our class today! Thank you, Charlie and Jimmy! What a "special treat!"
