In Jolly Phonics today, we had a review day. We reviewed the last 6 sounds we just finished learning (ee/or, z, w, ng, v, oo/oo). To help us review this newly learned sounds, we did a sound sort that contained the new sounds where they had to sort pictures based upon the sound they heard within the word. They did a fabulous job and I was so proud of how quickly they were able to sort all the pictures! Yay! After we finished the sound sort, we watched the Jolly Phonics review movie and it was fun hearing my kinders read all the words that contained the new sounds as they came up in the movie. They were so excited to read the words and it made me tear up to see the pride in their faces as they realized they read them correctly. They are all reading....WOW!!!

With it being the end of October on Monday, we did our October sight word roll and write. This is a fun activity that helps my kindergarten friends to get some extra practice learning the new sight words in a fun and engaging way! They are having so much fun playing the game that they forget they are practicing learning their sight words too! 😃

In math, we learned about the concept of heavier and lighter where we did a group lesson and some added practice in our math workbooks. They did a wonderful job learning this concept and picked up it quickly! Way to go, K-1 and K-3!

It was a wonderful week in kindergarten! On Monday, don't forget that your child can come to school all dressed up in their Halloween costume. Both classes will have a parade and a Halloween party in class! My kindergarten friends can't wait! We have been counting down the days on the calendar and they are so excited to see what costumes everyone will come dressed as on Monday. Have a great weekend, everyone!
