Fun Friday!

With today being the last day before Thanksgiving break we made a Thanskgiving wreath that turned out ADORABLE! The kids are so excited to bring them home and share them with you! They did such a great job coloring all the pictures with their crayons and colored pencils, cutting them out and putting their wreaths together! Way to go, K-1!
In math, we began our shape unit where we are learning all about 2D shapes. They are learning the name of each shape, how many sides it has, and how many corners it has. We are also discussing similiarities and differences among the shapes too. They are doing such a great job learning all about shapes and showing me what they learned in their math workbooks.
In reading, we have been continuing to learn about authors, illustrators, setting, and identifying the main event in the story. I am so proud of what wonderful listeners they are when we read the class read-alouds together and how well they do with the comprehension questions about the book. In grammar, we have been learning all about present and past tense verbs. For such a hard concept, I am amazed with how well they can identfy them when given a sentence. Way to go, K-1! In writing, they have been working on how to write a COMPLETE sentence and have been journaling in their November journals. On Mondays, we have "weekend news" where the class draws a picture and writes about something they did over the weekend. When drawing their picture, they draw what they did, color it with realistic colors and label it by using "brave spelling." This is writing the words on how they phonetically sound when sounding them out. When they are done labeling, they write one complete sentence to go with their writing. I am so proud of how well they are writing one sentence and how well they are writing the words on the lines the correct way. They are growing so much as readers and writers!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone! I am the luckiest kindergarten teacher in the world to have the opportunity to teach 17 amazing little ones who come to school with the biggest smiles and excitement for learning! They make my job so much fun everyday! I am very thankful for them and that I get to work with all of you as well! Thank you for all you do to help me in making your child's kindergarten year such a BIG success! Enjoy the week off together making memories with one another and please know that when I sit down for Thanksgiving dinner with my family, I will be saying how very grateful I am that I get to be your child's teacher each and every day! It's truly a gift! 💗 I will look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, December 1st! HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!
