All things turkey
With today being the last day before Thanksgiving break we have done some fun Turkey themed activities that go along with our kindergarten curriculum. The class had so much fun putting together the turkey puzzles to practice recognizing and putting teen numbers in order.
They also LOVED playing "Roll a Turkey" in groups of three. Their turkeys turned out SO CUTE!!! We did a turkey mini book that focused on positional words too. It has been such a fun day!

I am so thankful for my 18 turkeys this year! (haha!!)
Today was such a fun day in K-1! It was a jam packed day with phonics, a literacy lesson about adjectives which they did amazing learning, and we spent the afteroon making adorable "thankful turkeys." They LOVED making the turkeys this afternoon and did an exceptional job following my step-by-step directions in making them! I Loved reading all the things they were thankful for when they wrote them on their colorful feathers. Way to go, K-1! I know that I am very, very thankful that I get to spend each and every day with my 18 little turkeys who provide me so much joy and giggles! I am AMAZED with all they are learning and I am so proud of how they are all progressing as learners! It was fun day today! Here are some pictures of my little turkeys with their "thankful turkeys":

Wind
Today, I taught another fun science lesson with the class about wind. We read two short non-fiction books about wind and then we got to make another wind tool. Yesterday, we made a wind pinwheel and got to try it out on the fan to see if it worked. Today, we made a windsock and got to try it outside at the end of the day to see if it was windy. To make the windsock, we used paper fish and we colored them with markers. When the kids were done coloring them with markers, I took a spray bottle and sprayed them with a little water. This way the colors could blend together like a rainbow. After they dried I made them into a windsock and I attached a string. The class couldn't wait to take their beautiful windsocks outside to try in the wind. When we went outside, their faces lit up with excitement because they had so much fun flying their windsocks in the wind! Way to go, K-1!
In math today, I did a hands-on activity that helped us to practice the skill of identifying 10's and 1's in a number. This was challenging beacause the pictures had numbers from 10-100. They did an EXCELLENT job counting the 10 blocks and the single blocks to add them together to get the correct totals. Way to go, K-1! I am so impressed with all their hard work and how much they are learning!
In literacy today, we continued learning more letters and sounds and practiced implementing this skill into reading more words with the new sound. They are all reading and writing words on their own and it's AMAZING!! Yay! It was such a fun day in K-1!
