Oh what a Thursday! Yay!

Today in class, I taught the class how to draw a gingerbread man with a directed draw lesson. They LOVED making this project today and we had so much fun coloring it with crayons and finishing it with a watercolor background. Their drawings were SO CUTE!! They all did such a wonderful job following my step-by-step directions and taking their time to ensure they were doing their best work! They were so excited to bring them home to share with you!
In literacy I read the class a beautiful story called A Bucket of Blessings. The story had a wonderful lesson and we had some great discussions while reading the book. When I was finished reading the story to the class, they did an activity where I asked them to draw 2 characters from the story in the first box and to draw a picture of the setting in the second box. They all did a WONDERFUL job! They have all grown so much with their drawing and coloring since the first day of school! It's truly amazing! In writing, I have been working with my kindergarten friends in writing words on whiteboards. Especially words with the "tricky" digraphs. They are getting better and better at writing words on their own and recognizing the digraphs in words when they hear them. They are learning that "practice makes better!" The more they write, the easier it is for them! In math, we are learning all about how we can compose new shapes by putting various shapes together. They LOVED this lesson and had fun manipulating shape blocks to make new bigger shapes. We have also been comparing flat and solid shapes too. Math has been so much fun and they have LOVED the hands-on experience in math! It was a fabulous day in K-1 and it's going to be such a fun day tomorrow with our pricipal read-aloud! Have a wonderful holiday everyone and enjoy these next two weeks with your little ones! Have so much fun relaxing and making memories with one another these next few weeks! I'll see you all next year in 2025! That seems so strange....time is flying by too fast!
