I Like Myself
Today we read a really cute story called, I Like Myself, that had a wonderful message in it. It was to be proud of the person you are and don't let anyone tell you differently! We are all different on the outside which makes us all special but it's what's inside that's most important. They LOVED the story and we had a good discussion about the book. We made an adorable project that went along with it where they got to draw something they liked about themselves, something the main character in the story liked about herself and what they both liked they had in common. Here are some of my kindergarten friends with their cute projects:
In structured literacy, we have been learning new letters and reviewing the ones we have learned so far. They are doing such a wonderful job decoding and encodinig words all by themeselves. I am so proud of them! In grammar, we are learning about synonyms and antonyms. We watched a short video today that helped us learn it quickly as the tune of it was very catchy! Synonyms are words that have the same meaning and antonyms are words that are opposites. We will continue working on this new conecpt the next few days. Along with all these things, we are continuing to work on identifying characters and the setting in the story along with talking about the events in a story too. In math, we have begun a new chapter learning about measurement. The first couple lessons have focused on the the concept of "longer and shorter." They are doing great learning this new concept!
