I can't believe today marks our 100th day of kindergarten! The year has flown by and I am in awe of all that my little owls have learned so far this year! They had the BEST day today! We made 100th day owl hats and100th Day necklaces where they had to place beads on their necklace in 10 groups of 10 to make 100 all together. They LOVED making both things and they couldn't wait to put them both on when they were finished making them! We sorted their 100 day collections in groups of 10 and practiced counting them by 10's to 100. We also did some other fun 100 day activities to help us in celebrating this BIG day in kindergarten! The room was full of smiles, giggles and a lot of FUN! Happy 100th day, kinder friends!

Yesterday, I read both classes the story, Snowman At Night, and we did a fun activity to go along with it. I asked the class to write a sentence or two about what they would do if they were a snowman and came alive at night just like the ones in the story! I was so PROUD of all of their wonderful writing and how well they placed their words on the lines correctly. They are all growing as writers and it's so fun to see! After they finished writing, we did a little snowman art project above it that included ripping paper and gluing it on paper to create the snowman's face and various other steps following my step-by-step directions. Their snowman projects turned out amazing and we had so much fun looking at all of them when the classes were finished! I hung them in the kindergarten hallway for all of Olive to admire! I have gotten a lot of compliments just in the short time they have been hung up already. Way to go, K-1 and K-3!

Happy Groundhog Day!
Happy Groundhog Day, everyone! Today we spent some of our kindergarten day learning about what this fun holiday is since it's today (February 2nd). They had fun learning about what Groundhog day is and making groundhog hats. We also learned some fun facts about groundhogs too such as: Did you know that groundhogs incisor teeth keep growing and growing? They gnaw on sticks and wood to sharpen them and keep them shorter. If they didn't do that, groundhogs would have some VERY LONG teeth! In class, we made predictions on what we thought the groundhog saw this morning and I showed them a real video of Punxsutawney Phil that was taken this morning to see what the groundhog's prediction was. The class was SO excited to find out that the groundhog DID see his shadow and that means that we will have 6 more weeks of winter. Here are some pictures I took of both classes wearing their adorable groundhog hats. They of course wanted to take a few silly pictures. They are too cute!

Wow! How is it February 1st already? The year is flying by and going way to FAST! With it being February 1st, we spent the beginning of our kindergarten day making our February sight word cards and making our February class calendars! They all had so much fun making the calendars today creating heart masterpieces on top of their February calendars. They turned out so cute! I reminded them all that when they got home they should hang it in a special spot so that they could check each day to see all the important things that are happening in our classroom or at Olive.
For the last hour of our day, we participate in Global Play Day where we spent half of it playing inside and half of it outside. Both classes LOVED being able to play outside in the snow making snow forts, snow angles, and snowmen. It was so much fun! It was a great day in K-1 and K-3 today!
