On Friday, we learned how to write the Uppercase B and R the correct way through our Handwriting Without Tears program.  Both of these uppercase letters are "frog jump letters." Before they practiced writing the letters in their workbooks, they learned how to write the letters the correct way using whiteboards. I asked them to write the letter with a dry erase marker and trace over it with their finger erasing it as they traced. They all did such a great job! Then they practiced writing the letters in their workbooks.  I was so impressed with how nice and neat all my kindergarten friends formed all the letters!

In Jolly Phonics we learned the digraph ee/or sounds. The motion for these sounds is to put your hands over your head, flapping them up and down like donkey ears saying eeyore, eeyore.  Both classes loved learning this new sound and did a great job thinking of words that had both sounds within the word. I was impressed with how well they applied what the learned about this sound when completing their Jolly Phonics packets. They all did a great job circling pictures of things with both sounds and writing a few of the words on their own. For homework, they needed to think of and draw two things in their soundbook that had the "ee" sound and two things that had the "or" sound. I also assigned an ee/or sort on Seesaw for added practice.

In math, I did a lesson with both classes about the concept of longer than and shorter than. They did a great job taking what they learned in the lesson and applying it to the practice pages in their math workbooks and the Seesaw activity I assigned for added practice.

It was a fabulous day in kindergarten! Have a great weekend, everyone!
